Qianqian is a blind girl who loves to sing. She was abandoned at age 4 by er mother, Huiru, and brought up by her uncle, Yao Guorong. At an autograph-signing session by the singer Stephanie Sun, Qianqian and her friend Donna bump into Peng Haoran. Qianqian takes Haoran's CD by mistake. When Haoran asks Steven to let Stefanie Sun listen to his new song, Steven asks for a treat. Guorong and Lihua run a coffeeshop. Lihua despises Qianqian but dotes on her foster son, Yao Long. Haoran's landlord threatens to evict him if he does not pay his rent in 3 days. Haoran meets Qianqian again at the coffeeshop. When she returns his CD, he realises Steven had conned him.

Qianqian refuses to cut an album for Haoran. Even when Guorong throws him out, Haoran does not give up. Dr Song Ziqian is an eye specialist. His girlfriend Janice, is the hospital director's daughter. At Guorong's request, Ziqian agrees to check Qianqian's eyes. He finds she has a chance to regain her sight if there is a cornea donor. Haoran goes to the coffeeshop to talk to Qianqian again, and she finally agrees to do the album. Guorong is against the idea of Qianqian entering show business as he does not want her to end up like her mother. However, after Haoran takes him to the studio to listen to Qianqian sing, he relents.

Haoran gets drunk when Qianqian's 1st album flops. He believes it is a good effort but lacks marketing. iang gets upset when Yao Long and his men ransack his house to force him to repay a debt. Huiru buys a copy of Qianqian's CD and is moved when the shop assistant comments on Qianqian's handicap. Liang kicks up at the coffeeshop and takes Qianqian hostage. Lihua calls the police. Huiru, who is nearby, faints and is saved by Ziqian. Liang's wife and son plead with him to give himself up. Eventually, it is Qianqian who convinces him to do so, for the sake of his family. Ziqian gets suspicious when Huiru is overly concerned about Qianqian. he hostage incident boosts Qianqian's popularity. Her album sells.

Qianqian apologises to Haoran. He urges her to join Yang Xiong's company. Yao Long and Lihua are attracted to the offer of a high salary when Lin Li turns up to discuss Qianqian's contract. But Guorong is worried that she may be led astray. Huiru turns up at the signing of the contract and is happy for her daughter. Ziqian tells Huiru her condition, but is unable to find out the truth about her relationship with Qianqian. Qianqian befriends Xiaoman, another contracted artiste. Xiaoman's mother, Lulu, warns her daughter not to let Qianqian overshadow her. Haoran goes drinking again after a tiff with the producer for amending his composition. He hears the lounge singer singing Qianqian's song badly and is thrown out when he creates a scene.

Qianqian returns home and tells Guorong about Huiru. He encourages her to be patient. Lin Li and Heidy detests Qianqian. Zheng Yi is peeved when Yang Xiong tells him he does not intend to boost Qianqian's career. Hiring her was just a way of protecting the company's interests. Ziqian becomes closer to Qianqian when he gives her a new bell to replace the one she broke. Huiru looks Guorong up, but refuses to tell him who fathered Qianqian. Fans welcome the return of Ethan, a famous singer. Ethan resents his father, Yang Xiong, for causing his mother to die of misery. Years ago, Yang Xiong neglected his wife as he was mesmerised by Huiru. Haoran gives Qianqian a treat and expresses his feelings for her. She tells him she regards him as a brother.

Lihua is appalled when Guorong forks out , 000 for the treatment of Qianqian's eyes. He refuses to accept Huiru's money but urges her to return to Qianqian's side. When Huiru visits Qianqian, Lulu listens in on their conversation. She decides to use Yang Xiong to get back at Qianqian. She tells Yang Xiong that Qianqian was fathered by Ning Hai. Furious, Yang Xiong puts Qianqian's work on hold.

Steven and Lin Li are shocked when Yang Xiong tells them to boost Qianqian's career.

Qianqian is an established singer. She gets involved in a car accident one day and Yang Xiong is horrified to find out his blood is not suitable to donate to her.

Guorong beats Yao Long up when Yang Xiong demands they move out of the coffeeshop within 3 days. He also confronts Yang Xiong and dies of a heart attack. Qianqian becomes vengeful after the series of tragedies. Despite being sneered at, she insists on making her own living. She decides to use Ethan to seek revenge on Yang Xiong. The latter warns Ethan not to get too close to her but he refuses to heed his advice. Soon, gangsters turn up at Guorong's house to warn Qianqian to keep her distance from Ethan.

Zheng Yi returns to the company and fires Lin Li. Shocked, Lin Li scolds Qianqian who slaps her. Yang Xiong is furious when Ethan supports Zheng Yi's move. AFter a stroke, Yang Xiong becomes an invalid and is forced to hand over the managing of the company to Zheng Yi. Qianqian visits him in hospital and tells him she had plotted everything against him. She refuses to marry Ethan unless she is made a super star again. She goes back on her word even after she has clinched Best Singer Award and calls him a fool. Under the influence of drugs, Ethan drags her into his car and attempts a double suicide.

Qianqian reconciles with Donna and hires her as her assistant again. Qianqian announces her retirement much to everyone's surprise and dismay. Haoran proposes and Qianqian promises to consider. Qianqian goes to Ziqian's house and discovers he's still alive. However, he's blind and has lost his memory. Janice warns her not to disturb him. Janice arranges for Ziqian to undergo treatment in France. He meets Qianqian and vaguely remembers her. Donna calls Ziqian and tells him how Haoran had helped Qianqian through the years. Though Ziqian finally regains his memory, he tells Qianqian he has no feelings for her and will for France to marry Janice.
